Hybrid Meeting
Over 50 people attended in-person and virtually.
Thanks to the Ministry of Brewing for hosting our hybrid format and to everyone for their patience with sound issues and to everyone for technical assistance.
President - Welcome
Everyone was welcomed and new attendees introduced themselves.
Guest Speakers
1) Creative Alliance had to cancel and will present at the Sept. meeting.
2) Lanita Durran and staff from BGE discussed the replacement/upgrade to gas lines work being done around the neighborhood. There also was a discussion about unhoused/homeless camping on the corner of Regester and Gough Streets.
Work being done to the BGE gas lines.
Upgrading gas mains and individual lines to newer, more reliable technologies to provide better pressure and reduce outages and leaks.

There also was a discussion about unhoused/homeless camping on the corner of Regester and Gough.

Beautification

Will be pulling weeds and cleaning up trash on 8/27 (during Dumpster Day) and on 9/10.
Community Garden

The Honey Happy Hour will be held at the garden from 4-6pm. There will be mead and other beverages, a raffle and a local beekeeper will give a talk about honeybees (and there will be honey and other items for sale).
Education

Wolfe St. Academy will reopen the library which has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will be housed in the 243 S Wolfe home that WSA recently purchased.
Mollie Fein will be organizing a work day (TBA) to install shelves/books
The book train which will begin again for 1-2 times each week during school.
Land-Use

403 S Wolfe - Owner wants to add a 2nd and 3rd floor which they will occupy (rental on first floor); asked for letter of support.
Currently there are no zoning appeals.
The Committee is working on rewriting the land-use guidelines and will meet on 9/13 at the Julie Center to discuss.

There was an armed robbery around 1pm at S Ann and the 1900 block of Gough - if you have any footage on your security camera, contact Chris.
Installation of cafe lights on two blocks has been completed.

Traffic & Parking

Speed bumps to be installed on the 200 block of S Chapel.
City street cleaning is back; be careful where you park.
ROWArt - cannot paint the street until BGE is finished doing their upgrades.
New Business:
Benders is having a 10 yr. anniversary block party on 8/20; tickets are $25 and include 2 drinks. There will be a bouncy house and other kids’ activities.
Curbside composting through Compost Collective will start on 8/28; if interested, cost is $25/mo. - contact Lynnie.
Jaz Erenberg, local muralist, is creating an impressive mural on the front of her house in the 100 block of S Durham; be sure to stop by to see it.
Councilman Zeke Cohen’s office is working to remove unwanted trash/recycle cans.
To vote on issues at a meeting, you must have paid your current dues (based on calendar year beginning in January), attended 2 of the preceding 11 meetings, live in our boundaries and be age 18 and/or attended UFPIA sponsored events/activities per our Meeting & Voting Regulations.
