Welcome/Introductions
Guest Speaker
Stephen Porter, UFPIA Parliamentarian, discussed his recent 1,100 mile bicycle trip through France and Spain which took 16 days of cycling. He also shared some of his photos.
Votes
Motion: To grant up to $400 to the Lady Day Way Committee for painting the garage at 243 S Durham and adding plants. Motion passed by acclamation.
Motion: To issue a $200 check towards funeral expenses for David Philpot, a Fell’s Point employee from the E.C. Pops store on S Broadway, who was brutally assaulted and later died; motion passed by acclamation.
Officer Reports
The Treasurer’s report was given.
We are to receive $91K via the Environmental Justice Grant for traffic calming. The target areas will be Eastern, S Ann and the 200 block of S Durham. The grant expires Dec. 2025. (Note: We did not receive funding for any of the other grants.)

Community Garden

One gardener moved; Kate G. is the new gardener. There are 26 total plots; 35 gardeners and the waitlist is at 13.
Honey Happy Hour was a success.

This is a new committee. The goal is to enhance the 200 block of S Durham (Lady Day Way). If interested in working on this committee, contact Beth.
Land-Use

A zoning variance request was approved by the Committee.
There have been issues with abandoned properties, illegal Airbnb/VRBO’s and properties moving into receivership.
Improvements have been made to meet some of the MOU requirements with Sweet Carolina Liquors.

Plans to have more police and/or safety walks with neighbors and go door to door to distribute dusk-to-dawn light bulbs.

Traffic & Parking

It was suggested to ask the Dept. of Transportation to complete a parking assessment. Reminder: Roads are for everyone not just vehicles.
A cyclist was killed on Bank St.
New Business
There have been several aggressive dog incidents. To provide an impact statement, contact Cassie Kasparian at 516-640-0540 or casandrakasparian@gmail.com.
Spirits Tavern is requesting outdoor seating. It was suggested that they contact immediate neighbors for their feedback and attend a Land-Use Committee meeting. Concerns about noise impacting neighbors also was expressed.

To vote on issues at a meeting, you must have paid your current dues (based on calendar year beginning in January), attended 2 of the preceding 11 meetings, live in our boundaries and be age 18 and/or attended UFPIA sponsored events/activities per our Meeting & Voting Regulations.
