Broadway Corridor project

Liz Bement

  • The Carey School of Business is completing a study to identify key issues and funding opportunities for recommendation.

  • They also are working on creating a steering committee to oversee the Coalition.

Community Garden

Jan Mooney - communitygarden@upperfellspoint.org

  • Eight of our gardeners spent 65 hrs. over the last few weeks repairing the east block wall and walkway in the back – this was in addition to their regular maintenance tasks.

  • New note cards and other items are for sale – great, unique gift ideas - click here to shop. (Proceeds help our pollinators and the garden provides a green space for our neighborhood too.)

Land-Use

Mark Hoffmann - landuse@upperfellspoint.org

  • Sub-committee will be working on identifying sidewalks that need repair; contact Mark.

Media

Jan Mooney - newsletter@upperfellspoint.org

  • Thanks to our 17 regular newsletter carriers and our 9 alternates who ensure you receive your newsletter each month.

  • Special thanks to:

    • our youngest helper (Cole) for helping deliver this month (he is in the first grade)

    • to Lynnie, Erik and Tom for setting up our meetings

    • to Lynnie for sending out the E-blasts

    • to our sponsors – their ads helped to pay for 76% of our printing costs this year - be sure to support them as much as possible

  • Reminder - no meeting or newsletter in Dec.; the deadline for the Jan. newsletter is Jan. 3rd.

Traffic & Parking

Kurt Schiller - trafficparking@upperfellspoint.org

  • Art in the Right of Way - Documents were compiled for application.

New Business

  • Robbie Tutlewski from Little Donna’s (formerly Henninger’s Tavern) stated that he hopes to open in Jan/Feb. (waiting on permits from the City). He has been a chef for 25 yrs. and was in the Washington, DC area for the last 4 yrs. (The restaurant is named for his grandmother.)

  • Apryl Bancroft mentioned she would like to setup and maintain a community pantry. Several neighbors on S Durham will be building the pantry (similar to The Little Library) and once done she will ask neighbors to help stock it with food items.

  • Ideas for a holiday event in Dec. were discussed (although nothing was finalized but stay tuned).

  • The Powell Recovery Center has approached several homeowners in the Washington Hill neighborhood to purchase their property.
