Roger Frissora and Tina Mullen, local beekeepers from the Howard County Beekeepers Association, discussed the importance of bees and other pollinators, and what you can do to help them.

Traffic & Parking

Continued discussion on traffic calming 

Five steps to install traffic calming:

  1. Planning

    1. Understanding issues of location

    2. Decide on location

    3. Present to UFPIA

    4. Determine funding

    5. Requirements for installing traffic calming - Made You Look Tool Kit

    6. Sample MOU (memorandum of understanding)

  2. Co-design 

    1. Community input on design

    2. Finalize design

  3. Approval from the City (Send a map with lineage of the proposed installation)

    1. Submit Installation & Maintenance Plan

    2. Letters of support from homeowners at adjacent corners and the UFPIA

    3. Receive documents to move forward   

    4. 2-yr contract with Baltimore City

  4. Present MOU to UFPIA

    1. We can choose to sign or not sign

    2. One-time $250 insurance fee covers all installations

    3. Provide date(s) to the City

    4. Can supply flex posts if we want them but we must cover cost

    5. If approved, submit signed MOU, maintenance agreement and insurance certificate

  5. Prep/Installation by DOT/UFPIA

    1. UFPIA buys paint, materials, etc. 

    2. Create installation plan

    3. Installation

    4. Complete finishing documents

  6. Celebrate

Vote on whether to enter into MOUs with the City on traffic calming measures in our boundaries:

  • Food Social now open (formerly Canela Cafe - 1801 E Pratt)

    • No indoor service

    • Is providing free coffee to volunteers on 4/24 during UFPIA clean-up from 8am-1pm

    • Once get their liquor license will operate as Hygge

  • Fells Point Corner Theatre 

    • Plan to open in Sept.

    • Working on installing new filtration system/HVAC
